MINISTRY EVENT: Community Wide Bible Study
RATIONALE:
The call of Salvation is a unique but fruitful one. It is more than just walking down
the aisle, giving the preacher your hand, sharing your name, and joining a committee. Once
you have invited the Lord Jesus into your life, you then become adopted into a much larger
family of like- faith believers. For me, this is what I like to call community. The New
Testament term for “community or fellowship,” is koinonia. This appears in Acts 2:42. The
believers “devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of
bread, and to prayers.” The word means “to share in, to come into communion, to come into
fellowship.”1 It is vital that like faith believers build community or fellowship with one
another. The Hebrew writer yields a great command concerning this factor,
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."2
Since March of 2020, the church has had to “rethink church”. The operations, the
methodology, the routine, how ministry is done, literally the entire operation of church was
and has been transformed. The coronavirus pandemic caused the “church to leave the
building”. The saints were not able to gather for Sunday morning worship services,
Wednesday night Bible Study was out of the picture. Friday night revival was null and void.
Most ministry activities were put on hold due to the inability to gather. All social media
platforms were taught, learned, utilized, and maximized. The inclusion of technology
, enhanced how we “did church” as well as how we do ministry. With this thought in mind, it
is my goal to continue to advance the kingdom of God by spreading the gospel utilizing the
traditional, face to face, model with the inclusion of technology for those who are unable to
attend face to face.
OBJECTIVES:
Have learned solid and biblically based truths from the word of God
To cause spiritual maturity in the life of the believer
For unbelievers — to gain an awareness/knowledge of God to support
an opportunity to become saved by believing in Him
To connect and fellowship with other believers
To form a bond of Christian accountability
To gain a better understanding of God’s Word in our lives
To collectively gain a deeper understanding of God through His Word
