Activity 1.1: Announcing Myself (5 Marks)
This activity required posting an introductory message on the myUnisa Discussion Forum.
Below is a record of the posted announcement, accompanied by a print screen as instructed.
Forum Post Content
A. Name (or penname): [Student Name / Penname]
B. Address: [Country / Province / Town – e.g., Gauteng, South Africa]
C. Full-time or part-time student and current occupation: Part-time student.
I am currently employed as an Environmental Health and Safety Officer at [Organisa-
tion Name], where I am responsible for compliance monitoring, environmental impact
assessments, and occupational health risk management.
D. Why I want to do this course (beyond it being part of the curriculum):
Environmental challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and biodiversity
loss are reshaping how organisations operate. I enrolled in this module because I gen-
uinely want to understand how management systems can serve as practical tools for
achieving sustainability goals, not simply as compliance boxes to tick. The module’s
focus on auditing also aligns with my professional development goals.
E. Product/Activity/Service identified, with relevant standard: I have iden-
tified the drinking water supply system in South Africa as my object of interest. The
relevant international standard is ISO 24510:2007 – Activities relating to drink-
ing water and wastewater services: Guidelines for the assessment and for
the improvement of the service to users. This standard is fascinating because it
directly governs how utility service providers should manage and measure the quality of
water services delivered to communities, which is central to SDG 6 (Clean Water and
Sanitation). Web link to the standard: https://www.iso.org/standard/37956.html

Activity 1.2: Academic Integrity Course Completion (5 Marks)
Academic integrity is the foundation of credible scholarship, particularly in an era where arti-
ficial intelligence tools can readily generate content that may be mistaken for original student
work. The UNISA academic integrity course at https://moac.unisa.ac.za/mod/page/view.
php?id=306 outlines the ethical obligations of students in producing authentic academic work.
Completing this course reinforced my understanding that plagiarism includes not only copying
text verbatim, but also paraphrasing too closely, submitting work done by others, and using
AI-generated content without proper disclosure. These forms of academic dishonesty under-
mine the value of qualifications and erode institutional trust (UNISA, 2023).
