Assignment 3
University of Maryland Global Campus
HRMN 300
Scenario 1
1. As this is largely a software development project many of the positions needed will be in
development and design. Software developers, web developers, graphic designers, as well as
project managers and logistics specialist. Educators and Instructors who have dealt with
online academies should be hired as consultants as well.
2. As a contract like this typically have a set budget as well as a delivery date, the hiring will
need to happen quickly. There are approval requirements that need to be routed for signatures
and
this could add to the timeline. This will also require a well staffed HR office to ensure the
hiring is done quickly.
3. As this company operates largely off of contractors, employees nearing the end of their
contracts will be encouraged to apply to this project. This will be done when employees
communicate with HR to coordinate their separation. Additionally, online recruiting
resources will be utilized, social media as well as these often have very fast results.

Scenario 2
1. I would have also let her go. The easiest option would be to promote the Lead Instructional
Designer into her position and hire a new lead designer who can then be reinforced by the new
Program manager. Losing continuity on a project could cause delays and confusion. If she was
having these same performance issues but there was no one stepping up to take control, it
would be a more difficult decision.
2. The most obvious solution is to promote the lead instructional designer as mentioned above.
Chances are he would be interested in the promotion and it helps his career progression. If
not, someone else involved in the project would have to be promoted. Bringing in a new
project manager to a project that's already in progress could be risky as mentioned above.
