, Introduction
Rescue Dogs Rock New York City (RDRNYC) is an animal welfare nonprofit
organization. This organization was established in 2015 by co-founders Stacey Silverstein and
Jackie O’Sullivan (About, 2020). RDRNYC is a 501(c)(3) organization that classifies them as a
charitable organization. Rescue Dogs Rock was founded shortly after the two co-founders
discovered their passion for animals, specifically those that are unwanted. Each year Rescue
Dogs Rock pulls a minimum of eight hundred dogs from shelters in the United States (Rescue
Dogs Rock Inc, 2020). Each case is a heartbreaking one filled with neglect, abuse, or horrific
medical pulls from shelters. These dogs are given a new life as they are medically evaluated,
treated, and eventually rehabilitated to be adopted to the perfect family.
Although the nonprofit is in New York City they take in dogs from all over the United
States as well as having foster care in 13 states. Since the foundation Rescue Dogs Rock has
rescued over five thousand animals and successfully homed over three thousand of these animals
(Rescue Dogs Rock Inc, 2020). This is done through the two programs that have been
established: rescue, rehabilitate and rehome, and adopt don’t shop. Each program has a specific
goal to help support the overall mission. The first program works to save the dogs while the latter
helps to educate the public on these unwanted animals.
This organization utilizes social media platforms to collect donations as well as various
campaigns and charity events. This organization exists solely on donations and the support given
from the community. Donations are received from individuals, sponsors, and those who have
partnered with the organization. This has allowed Rescue Dogs Rock to thrive since the day it
was established and allow them to complete the mission “imagine a world – without homeless
dogs”.
