Similarities of readings 33.2 and 33.3
The main similarity between Freud and the new psychology as explained in the reading
33.2 and 33.3 respectively is that, in both cases, the emphases is about understanding and
explaining the human behavior. The reading 33.2 is titled “Freud” while the reading 33.3 is titled
“The New Psychology and Literature”. Freud explains human behavior by associating it with the
experiences of the childhood. Here, the behavior of an adult is said to be guided by the
experiences that he or she encountered in his or her childhood (Fiero, 2016). Similarly, the new
psychology in reading 33.3 also aims at understanding and explaining the causes of human
behavior but through emphasizes the role of human decisions in their behaviors and personality.
