comprehensive of all other documents. All of PT wishes
◉ Palliative vs Hospice.
Answer: hospice is picked up after a pt has been on palliative care,
usually when they have less than 6 months to live
◉ Hospice.
, Answer: very brief period of palliative care. 6mo or left to live. Focus
on comfort and dying with respect and dignity. Can be used for
pediatric pts going through hard diseases and life challenges
◉ Meds for end of Life.
Answer: My Little Robot Helps Me-->
Morphine- help with pain.
Lorazepam- benzo, help with anxiety and agitation.
Robinul- anticholinergic, decreases secretion.
Haloperidol- for agitation
Methadone- symptom control for PC and hospice pt's
◉ S/S of active dying.
Answer: urinary/ bowel incontinence, BP drops, skin color change
(mottling) and extremities cold (body trying to keep internal central
vital organs functions and BF focus is there). Hallucinations,
Delirium and agitation. Little to no food or drink
◉ Death Rattle.
Answer: ↓consciousness pt lose ability to swallow and clear
secretions. Pooling creates noisy ventilation when breathing,
"gurgling/rattling". Meds, suctions, decreased fluid intake, and
positioning side to side can help to relive this
