, A. Assess your ability to gather information on your client within the iHuman Virtual
Patient Encounter.
1. Use the iHuman score sheet to review your results for the focused health history
and focused physical exam. How did you perform?
Using the score sheet to review my results was somehow surprising, I found that my
performance was generally strong in several areas but also highlighted opportunities for
improvement. It is nice to have a guideline of ideas of questions I should ask, as this will help me
on my future practice to actually know how to direct the conversation. However, the score sheet
indicated that I could improve in areas such as documenting findings more clearly and
efficiently, I did feel lost at times because I was nervous to mess up my score and assumed I was
being timed. I could have been more specific on the history. Additionally, I recognized the need
to enhance my ability to prioritize assessment components based on the patient’s presenting
complaint.
2. What did you find easy or difficult about navigating through the focused health
history and focused physical exam sections of the case?
I found easy the way that the problems were in order and how that would give me ideas on what
to ask or assess next. The prompts helped me stay organized and ensured I covered essential
areas such as current complaints, past medical history, medications, allergies, and social factors.
I did find a little bit odd to be auscultating on a virtual patient.
3. Describe one strategy to improve your performance in the next Virtual Patient
Encounter.
It took me almost a whole day as I was very nervous (I did not know until the end that for the
first time I had multiple chances). One effective strategy I plan to implement is preparing a
structured checklist or template for both the focused health history and physical exam
components before starting the encounter. This will help me systematically cover all essential
areas, ensure I don’t overlook key questions or examination steps, and manage my time more
efficiently.
B. Assess your performance in documenting your findings on the electronic health record
(EHR).
1. What did you find easy or difficult about navigating through the documentation of
the history and physical within the system?
At the beginning everything seemed very difficult but then with practice I was able to find all the
information I needed and that allowed to move more comfortably.
