DIAGNOSIS & MANAGEMENT
Central Venous Pressure (CVP)
A measure of the pressure exerted by fluid in the right atrium; indicative of right-
sided heart function
Normal= 2-8 mm Hg
>10 = fluid overload, cardiogenic shock, HF, high PEEP on Vent
<0= dehydration, distributive shock
Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP)
SBP + 2(DBP)/3
Goal >65
Indicates average driving force in the arterial system throughout the cardiac cycle;
when available, the MAP should be used in hemodynamic assessment and decision
making
Pulmonary Artery Pressure (PAP)
, A measure of the systolic and diastolic pressures in the pulmonary artery
Normal=15-25/6-12
Pulmonary Artery Opening Pressure (PAOP)/Pulmonary Capillary Wedge Pressure
(PCWP)
Measure of the pressure in the Left ventricular at the end-diastole; indicative of left-
sided heart function
Normal =5-12
>12=volume overload, HFrEF, Pericardial Tamponade
<5=Hypovolemia
Cardiac Output (CO)
Volume of blood pumped per minute into systemic ciculation
Normal=4-8 LPM
>8=Fever, Hypervolemia, inotropy
