Secondary aging is aging that is caused by lifestyle and the environment. 3. What are some logical and scientific problems with the “wear and tear” theory of aging? a. Time and exertion are the enemy. The older we get we wear out. b. Our bodies naturally repair itself. If an individual is doing moderate to vigorous exercise are usually healthier and live longer. 4. What are some current explanations for why we age biologically? a. Specific genes are not all responsible for longevity as the age physical changes in one aging. b. We age because our cells age and eventually they no longer divide. This can cause injury and many conditions. c. We gradually accumulate damage DNA that can result/affect aging.5. Describe subtypes of neurocognitive disorders a. Parkinson’s Disease may cause a neurocognitive disorder. Symptoms include anxiety, depression, hallucinations, and personality changes. b. Cognitive declines due to vascular disease are due to a cerebrovascular event such as a stroke. Risk factors include hypertension, smoking, obesity and any factors that contribute to cerebrovascular disease
