Around 40% of all the Riesling in the world, is in Germany!


⩥ What are Liebfraumilch wines?. Answer: - It is a medium-dry white
wine of Qualitätswein level with at least 18g/l residual sugar.


- It must contain at least 70 per cent Riesling, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau
and Kerner although, in practice, Müller-Thurgau tends to dominate the
blend.


- The grapes must come from one of four regions. The majority of wines
came from Rheinhessen and Pfalz although some were produced in

⩥ What is Pendelbogen?. Answer: Pendelbogen is replacement-cane
pruning with the canes arched in the trellis. The arching of the canes is
thought to improve the flow of sap in the vine and increase the number
of viable buds, in turn increasing yields.


⩥ How have the selection of grapes planted changed over the past 50
years in Germany?. Answer: - In 1980 it was planted to 90% White
Grapes, as of 2021 it is 32% Red Grapes


- Better clone selection, especially for Spätburgunder and Dornfelder


- Since the 1990s, plantings of Grauburgunder, Weissburgunder and, to a
lesser extent, Chardonnay have also risen considerably
