4.2 Recruitment,selection and training.
Recruitment and selection is when a business hires new employees they
need to attract and appoint best people with the right skills and
experience.
Reasons why recruitment may be needed:
● Positions vacant due to promotion
● People required for a given period of time as temporary staff may
be on maternity leave or paternity.
Stages in recruitment and selection process…
Identify the type and number of staff needed
( a business may need to choose between a
part-time,full-time,temporary or permanent worker)
Prepare job description and person specification
(experience,skills needed and qualifications)
Advertise the job using appropriate media
Evaluate the applicants and select a shortlist for interview
(A business must sort through all applications and make a longlist and
shortlist then the shortlisted applicants are invited for an interview.)
Carry out interviews
Evaluate interviews and make appointment
(At this stage the interviewer must decide who to appoint and usually
the interviewees are told the outcome by post at a later date allowing
the interviewer to discuss and evaluate.)
Provide feedback for unsuccessful candidates
