• To provide a prioritization method for the removal of telemetry devices in the event there are more
patients than devices

• Sinus Rhythm for at least 2 days
• Non-Cardiac related diagnosis
• If the patient that has been on telemetry monitoring without arrhythmias for the past 24 consecutive
hours, negative cardiac enzymes and no chest pain.
• If the patient has been on telemetry monitoring with the diagnosis syncope, unstable angina or rule
out MI for the past 72 consecutive hours.
• This selection process will continue until there are no other candidates.
• If an appropriate candidate meets the above criteria, the RN on the unit will then call the patient's MD,
explain the need for removing the patient from telemetry monitoring and ask for an order.
• If no patient meets the above criteria, the RN on the unit will notify the physician of the new patient
that all units are in use and that no patients meet the removal criteria.
