and Public Health Division are adopted as standards of practice and are incorporated by
reference herein.

Apprentice
(As defined by NM rule.) - ANS ✔✔A person holding a high school diploma or a GED, 1) wishes
to make application for basic education in the art and science of midwifery by apprenticeship, 2)
has a formal preceptor relationship defined in writing with a midwifery instructor who is in good
standing with the Midwife Licensing Authority of the Public Health Division and who meets the
requirements and agrees in writing to fulfill the basic educational and clinical experience
requirements.
