Pubchem said no igrediets were flammable but it could be wrong!
The question required using safety pictogram data from Sigma-Aldrich. Based on that
source, the flammable pictogram is included for the chemicals used. Since it was not
selected, the −2 deduction for one missing pictogram was applied

Round Bottom Flask
Beaker
Erlenmeyer Flask
Separatory Funnel
Distillation Head
Thermometer
Condenser
**Glass funnel would also be acceptable**
− 9 pts 3 missing/Incorrect
− 6 pts 2 missing/incorrect
− 12 pts 4 missing/incorrect

We didd not use a lot of these that are listed in our experiment. Hubbard used some of
them but we did not actively use them in the lab. Thank you Ali!
The question asks for all glassware used in the experiment, not just the items you
personally handled. Some required items (like beaker and graduated cylinder) were not
selected, and a few items chosen were not part of the standard setup.
So the deduction reflects missing required glassware and inclusion of incorrect items,
which results in 18/24.

Lab Procedure Questions pts
7.1 Alkene Product pts
+ 4 pts
Correct
+ 0 pts Incorrect
7.2 Primary Solvent pts
+ 2 pts Ethyl Acetate
+ 0 pts Incorrect
7.3 Ylide Reactant pts
+ 4 pts
Correct
+ 0 pts Incorrect
− 2 pts missing charge
7.4 Recrystallization Solvent pts
+ 2 pts 1-Propanol
+ 0 pts Incorrect
7.5 Extraction Bottom Layer pts
+ 2 pts Aqueous
+ 0 pts Incorrect
, 7.6 Drying Agent pts
+ 3 pts Students used anhydrous calcium chloride to absorb the water remaining in the organic layer. A
small amount of the granules was added to the flask and swirled until all of the water was
aggregated in the drying reagent. The dry organic solvent was then decanted into a dry round
bottom flask.
