, Essay 1: Essay 1 (Education / Online Learning)
Question:

Some people consider that university education should be free for
everybody, however others think students should fee for their own studies. Argue
both views and give your own outlook?

Answer:
Education plays a vital role in the development of individuals and society, which is why the
issue of university tuition fees remains widely debated. While some people believe that higher
education should be completely free for all students, I believe that although financial support is
important, students should contribute partially to the cost of their education.

On the one hand, providing free university education can create equal opportunities for students from
all economic backgrounds. Many talented students are unable to continue their studies because of
high tuition fees and financial difficulties. If governments fully fund higher education, more students
would be able to pursue their academic goals and improve their future careers. Furthermore, a highly
educated population contributes significantly to economic growth, scientific innovation, and social
progress. Therefore, free education can benefit both individuals and society as a whole.

On the other hand, making university education entirely free may place a heavy financial burden on
governments. Maintaining universities, paying academic staff, and providing modern facilities
require enormous funding. In some countries, governments may struggle to afford these expenses
without increasing taxes or reducing spending in other important sectors such as healthcare and
infrastructure. In addition, when students invest their own money in education, they are often more
responsible, motivated, and committed to their studies. As a result, partial financial contribution can
encourage greater academic seriousness and reduce educational waste.

In conclusion, although free university education can improve equality and increase access to
learning opportunities, it may not be financially sustainable in the long term. In my opinion, a
balanced approach in which governments provide financial assistance while students contribute
reasonably towards their education is the most practical and effective solution.
