, A. Analyze your school’s school improvement plan (SIP) by doing the
following:
1. Perform a SWOT analysis of your school’s school improvement
plan (NELP 6.1).
SWOT Analysis of School Improvement Plan (SIP)
Strengths:
• The SIP clearly focuses on several key areas such as academic
growth, attendance, school climate, and equity, ensuring a well-
rounded approach.
• There is a strong emphasis on data-driven decision-making, with clear
success indicators based on student and staff surveys and Key
Performance Indicators.
• The plan prioritizes equity by targeting specific student groups such
as special education, foster, and English Language Development
students.
• Regular professional development in areas like diversity, equity,
and inclusion will foster a more inclusive school environment.
Weaknesses:
• The success indicators, like Dreambox and Lexia, may not provide a
comprehensive view of all students’ academic needs, particularly for
those not benefiting from these platforms but this is a district
mandated goal.
• Some strategies lack details on how to reach or support the most at-
risk students effectively, like chronic absenteeism beyond attendance
tracking.
• The alignment of the various strategies to broader goals, while clear,
lacks a detailed plan for continuous adjustment or support based on
real-time data.
Opportunities:
• The focus on AVID development and MTSS creates a strong
foundation for improving academic and behavioral outcomes
through targeted interventions.
