Can money buy happiness?

Against money buying happiness
My opinion
● A study from 2021 in the University of Pennsylvania it was discovered
that happiness rose steadily with income until the income rate reached
£100,000 where the happiness levels plateau.
● A book written by a psychology professor states that 50% of our
happiness is baseline happiness that is different in every person, it's
something we are born with. 10% of our personal happiness does
contribute to life circumstances which include income and the remaining
40% is our lifestyle choices and interests and hobbies which can be
supported by the amount of money you have.
● When giving to charity or those in need it is proven that your
endorphins released increase therefore making you happy, but of
course to donate you need the money.
● Many workplaces go on strike due to insufficient pay, upsetting the
majority of that particular workforce therefore decreasing happiness
whereas receiving enough money keeps people happy.
● 77% of suicides registered occur from low income countries. Those
economically disadvantaged are at higher risk of mental health
struggles. Contrasting that, mental health illnesses are reported more
from people with a very high income.
● A high income can cause you to become a target for crimes against you
such as robberies and organised crimes provoking your safety.
● Anecdote: Markus Persson the creator of Minecraft sold his company
to microsoft thus receiving £2.5bn this bought him a minuscule amount
of happiness where he explained he never felt more lonely in his life.
● Many celebrities reach a point in their life where they are at their
happiness but once all the riches and money and expensive things get
old they begin to lose that happiness going from new cars and houses
to drugs and gambling.
● Therefore I believe money can buy happiness, shopping is a form of
therapy to many and the best house with the best car brings most
people so much happiness. However, once these new thighs get old,
having lots of money gets old. Happiness is based on your wellbeing,
mental health and people around you to support you throughout your
life, just because you don’t have money doesn’t mean you can’t be happy
for the majority of your life.
