Ans.(a) Dictatorship: In this system all the powers are in the hands of single individual or a small
group of individuals and the Dictator is not answerable to anyone.
(b) Democracy: Democracy is a form of government in which the powers are in the hands of
people and the government is answerable to people who can change it through constitutional
means.
2.Which form of Government allows people to choose their rulers?
Ans. Democracy
3. Explain the most common form of Democracy seen in the World. Why this form of
Democracy is important?
Ans. The most common form of Democracy is Representative Democracy. (i) In the Modern
times the democracies involve such a large number of people that it is physically impossible for
them to sit together and take a collective decision for the country. (ii) Even if they could not the
citizen does not have the time or desire or the skills to take part in all decisions.
4. Distinguish between Democratic and Non- Democratic elections.

democratic decision always involves many discussions and meeting between the people. When
a number of people come together on a common platform than they are able to point out the
mistakes in any decision. (iii) As most of the decisions are taken by discussion this, reduces the
chance of wrong or irresponsible decisions.
6. “Democracy is better than any other form of Government because it allows us to correct its
own mistakes”. Explain.
Ans.(i) There is no guarantee that mistakes cannot be made in democratic setup. Even it is not
guaranteed in any other form of Government also. (ii) The Advantage of a democracy is that
such mistake can be hidden for a long time. (iii) Ther is a provision of correction and discussion
in a democratic setup. (iv) It offers better chances for taking good decisions.
