Facts:
● Rational Numbers are collection of all natural numbers, whole
numbers, integers, decimals and fractions.
● 0 is neither a positive nor a negative rational number.
● If the cross product of two rational numbers is equal, then they are

, Name of Activity-Fraction and Decimal Sorting
Topic- Rational number
Learning Objectives-Reinforce conversions between different forms of ratio-
nal numbers and improve their fluency.
Materials Required-Pre-written cards with fractions, decimals, and percent-
Warm up Activity ages.
Procedure(Plan structure)-In groups or individually, students are given a
mixed set of fraction, decimal, and percentage cards. Their task is to sort the
cards into categories based on whether the number is a fraction, decimal, or
percentage. Once the sorting is complete, they must convert all fractions to
decimals and vice versa.
Teacher will activate the prior knowledge by asking questions:

Discuss few definitions and solve Lets Recall questions from book
Teacher will introduce the concept through activity and concept map.
Concept map:
⮚ A rational number is a number that can be expressed in the form of ,
where p and q are integers and q0.
A rational numbers is said to be in standard form if and only if
1. The numerator and denominator are co prime, i.e., they have no
common factor other than 1.
2. The denominator of the rational number is positive.

Plan execution
⮚ Equivalent Rational Numbers
Rational Numbers having same standard form are equivalent rational
numbers.
E.g. ,, are equivalent rational numbers with as their standard form.
Note: To find equivalent rational number, either multiply or divide the
numerator and denominator by the same non zero integer.
