a. Primary diagnosis
Post-Partum Depression (PPD)

- Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS)
- Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ)- 2/9

- Labs: Not typically indicated but could be concerned with hormone levels
or thyroid function; TSH or T4 could be checked (Baldor et al., 2020).
c. Medications
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) is the first-line therapy for PPD that is
moderate-to-severe in category (Deligiannidis et al., 2019). Once an effective dose is achieved,
continue dose of treatment for 6 to 12 months to prevent relapse of symptoms (Azhar et al.,
2022).
