This comprehensive TBS Phase 1 Exam Prep 2026 study guide contains more than 350 exam-style questions and correct answers covering the full spectrum of leadership development, warfighting doctrine, operational security, tactical communications, combat stress management, combat casualty care, military ethics, force protection, financial readiness, and Marine Corps professional development topics taught at The Basic School (TBS). Designed specifically for newly commissioned Marine officers, officer candidates, NROTC midshipmen, and professional military education participants, this resource provides an extensive review of the doctrinal knowledge, tactical concepts, leadership competencies, and operational skills required to excel during TBS Phase 1 training and evaluations. The material delivers in-depth coverage of Marine Corps leadership doctrine and Marine Leader Development (MLD), including the Six Functional Areas of Leader Development—Fidelity, Fighter, Fitness, Family, Finances, and Future—as outlined in MCO 1500.61. Students will master the principles of teaching, coaching, counseling, and mentoring, while also reviewing the 11 Leadership Principles, 14 Marine Corps Leadership Traits, and the Five Horizontal Themes of Officership. Additional leadership topics include ethical decision-making, command responsibilities, troop welfare, suicide prevention, resilience building, combat leadership, and the development of professional military character. A major focus of this study guide is Marine Corps warfighting doctrine based on Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication 1 (MCDP-1) Warfighting. Topics include the definition and nature of war, battlefield dynamics, spectrum of conflict, levels of war (strategic, operational, and tactical), principles of war, maneuver warfare philosophy, commander’s intent, mission tactics, combined arms, decentralized command, surfaces and gaps, main effort, center of gravity analysis, decision-making under uncertainty, and the role of command and control in combat operations. The guide also explores the distinction between the art and science of tactics, probabilistic versus deterministic views of combat, and the practical application of maneuver warfare concepts in modern military operations. The document provides extensive instruction on combat stress and human factors in warfare, including the five primary stresses of combat, common combat environmental stressors, principles for overcoming fear, combat resilience, warrior transition, post-deployment reintegration, morale, discipline, esprit de corps, and leader responsibilities before, during, and after combat operations. Students will examine practical methods for mitigating combat stress and maintaining operational effectiveness within small-unit leadership environments. Suicide prevention training, warning signs, intervention methods, and available Marine Corps support resources are also thoroughly reviewed. Operational security and force protection receive substantial attention throughout the guide. Students will review Operational Security (OPSEC), Communications Security (COMSEC), classified information handling, classified material security, need-to-know procedures, espionage awareness, Personally Identifiable Information (PII) protection, reporting procedures for suspected espionage activities, foreign intelligence collection methods, and information safeguarding responsibilities. Additional instruction covers Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI), Electronic Key Management Systems (EKMS), tactical communication security procedures, and the role of communications security in supporting maneuver warfare operations. The study guide also includes comprehensive coverage of tactical communications and command-and-control systems within the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF). Students will learn how tactical communications enable information flow throughout all levels of command, support rapid decision-making, and facilitate decentralized execution consistent with maneuver warfare doctrine. The material reinforces the critical relationship between communications systems, command authority, operational tempo, and battlefield effectiveness. Combat casualty care and field medical training are covered extensively, including heat injuries, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, dehydration, frostbite, hypothermia, trench foot, immersion foot, casualty assessment, lifesaving priorities, and environmental injury prevention. The guide outlines symptom recognition, treatment protocols, casualty management procedures, and preventative measures that are essential for operational readiness and battlefield survivability. These topics align closely with Marine Corps Combat Casualty Care training requirements and field leadership responsibilities. Additional subject areas include Equal Opportunity (EO), hazing prevention, fraternization policy, sexual harassment prevention, alcohol abuse prevention programs, personal financial management, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) education, Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) management, Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) interpretation, chain-of-command responsibilities, Chaplain Corps support functions, Religious Ministry Team (RMT) operations, and spiritual readiness resources available to Marines and their families. These topics reinforce the holistic leadership approach emphasized throughout Marine Corps professional development programs. The content aligns closely with official Marine Corps doctrine and training references, including MCDP 1 Warfighting, MCWP 6-11 Leading Marines, MCO 1500.61 Marine Leader Development, MCO 1730.6 Chaplain Corps Programs, MCO P5354.1 Equal Opportunity Manual, MCO 5300.17 Substance Abuse Program, OPSEC guidance, Tactical Communications doctrine, and Marine Corps Combat Casualty Care instructional standards. These publications provide the doctrinal framework upon which Marine Corps officer development, leadership training, and combat readiness programs are built. This document is highly relevant for TBS students, Marine Corps officers, officer candidates, PLC candidates, OCC candidates, NROTC midshipmen, infantry officers, logistics officers, communications officers, intelligence officers, military academy students, professional military education participants, and service members preparing for TBS examinations, officer qualification assessments, leadership evaluations, promotion boards, or advanced military training programs. It is particularly valuable for individuals seeking a comprehensive and examination-focused review of Marine Corps doctrine, leadership, combat readiness, tactical communications, operational security, and warfighting principles. described as feeling "like a stump," "like a block of wood," or "cube-like."

● Tissue becomes hard and red, and then turns white, white-yellow or

mottled blue-white, and cold.

● Swelling may occur, and blisters may form on the affected

area.Symptoms of immersion foot are:

● Pale, wrinkled, loose, spongy, cold, swollen, and waxy skin on the feet.
