STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES
My business, Sequoia, had a great work atmosphere One of my weaknesses was being able to keep up with
and was even awarded for being a great place to work. demands.
OPPORTUNITIES THREATS
A opportunity I didn’t take was expanding my business A threat that I was not able to resolve was negative ad
to the market in Rio de Janeiro. review for my bike in the target segment speed.
SWOT Justification
Strengths
For my business, I ensured that my employees had a comprehensive benefits package. I paid the highest salary
among all my competitors, offered full coverage medical insurance, and the highest pension percentage among all
my competitors as well. I also made sure to allocate a significant amount towards their training, as I wanted them
to be happy, motivated, and increase their productivity. That was my biggest strength.
Weaknesses
My biggest weakness was underestimating production and market demand for each of my products. Each quarter, I
consistently had high ill-will penalties from selling out bikes. I tried to remedy this by investing in more 3-D printers
and increasing the number of specialized employees, but I wasn’t able to meet market demand even after the
changes.
Opportunities
An opportunity I was presented with was opening a store in Rio de Janeiro. This would have helped my sales for the
mountain bike, Stump. However, it was an opportunity I never took out of fear that it would cost too much to
open, maintain, and employ. Looking at my ending cash flow, it probably would have been worth the extra
spending.
Threats
The threat I could not resolve was fixing my poor advertising review. I encountered this problem early on with my
mountain bike, but I was able to resolve it by adjusting my advertisements and product design. I tried to do the
same thing with my speed bike when that became a threat, but despite the changes I made the poor review
continued to negatively impact my demand into the 7th quarter.
