Description of the Curriculum
, The curriculum that will be evaluated is Math Expressions by Houghton, Mifflin,
Harcourt (HMH). The area of content will be third-grade math.
Context: Need or Problem
The need that I would like to address in my evaluation of the Math Expressions
curriculum is solving two-digit by one-digit multiplication problems.
Input: Curriculum Component
Two components of the curriculum that address this need are the use of different learning
models to support learners in their varying learning styles. For example, the curriculum offers
examples of this need in the form of pictures, place value models, area models, number forms,
and chunking. This allows the curriculum to reach many styles of learners and help reinforce
ideas within students while giving many perspectives. Another component of the curriculum that
addresses the needs is the use of spiral review. Through spiral review within the curriculum,
students will revisit the topics throughout the year after learning them to continue reinforcing the
skills.

The information and resources that I will gather to evaluate the curriculum and it's fit
within my classroom are formative and summative assessments on multiplication strategies and
skills that are taught from the curriculum.
Process: Curriculum Implementation
To implement this curriculum, I will follow the curriculum scope laid out within the
