Human Eye & The Colourful World | CBSE Class 10 + IIT-JEE Foundation
This roadmap is strategically designed to take you from the fundamental board level up to the
rigorous analytical level required for IIT-JEE Foundation and competitive olympiads (NTSE/
NSEJS). Follow the phases sequentially to build unbreakable concepts.
Phase 1: Structure & Vision (CBSE Fundamentals)
Goal: Understand the anatomy of the eye and master defect calculations.
1. The Human Eye
• Core Anatomy: Cornea, Iris, Pupil, Ciliary muscles, Eye lens, Retina, Optic nerve.
• Power of Accommodation: Role of ciliary muscles in changing focal length. Near point ( 25
cm ) and Far point (Infinity).
2. Defects of Vision & Correction (High Priority)
• Myopia (Near-sightedness): Causes, ray diagram of defective and corrected eye (Concave
lens).
• Hypermetropia (Far-sightedness): Causes, ray diagram of defective and corrected eye
(Convex lens).
• Presbyopia & Astigmatism: Causes and use of bifocal/cylindrical lenses.
• Numerical Mastery: Using 1/f = 1/v - 1/u to find the power of corrective lenses.
