Appendix 1 – Supporting Evidence for AO2. (24 marks)
Demonstrating new skills acquisition and how these were implemented into my EPQ project, to create the final song (artefact).
Existing relevant skills and qualifications prior to starting my EPQ project.
GCSE Music – Grade 6
Grade 5 – Guitar
School House Music Captain. At my school we have an interhouse music competition, In this role I organised over 50 people to lead our house to
win this coveted competition in 2023. This was one of the first times I managed a large project and people. I wanted to add to my project
management knowledge and skillset throughout my EPQ process.
Band Member – Guitar player – School Production of Return to the Forbidden Planet.
Band Member – School Jazz Band. Including various performances at local events.
Musical Performance knowledge including:
o Michael (Billy’s friend) in Billy Elliot – School Production – 2018
o Rum Tum Tugger in CATS – Local Youth Theatre – 2016
o Additional Chorus Parts in local youth theatre productions x 2 (Vackees and Return to the Forbidden Planet)
The overall objective of my EPQ is to write, play and record a song, using a range of instruments and new technologies.
This will be the first time that I will:
explore songwriting techniques in detail.
Carry out a song-writing process that involves ongoing critical evaluation, and refinement processes.
write a completed song.
be the sole musician on this song on a range of instruments, including guitar, piano, vocals, percussion etc.
record the song, using new technologies that I haven’t used previously.
edit and produce the song using these new technologies.
create a project management plan to achieve these project outcomes successfully and on time.
successfully deliver a presentation to my tutor and peers outlining my projects’ objectives and achievements.
