Erwin, J. (2021) Virtual simulation in nursing education: A systematic review.
International Journal of Nursing Education, 13(3), 48-54.
This article explores the effectiveness of using virtual simulation in the field
of nursing by doing a systematic review of literature. Erwin first discusses
how virtual simulation came to the forefront during the COVID pandemic and
then goes into the potential pros and cons of virtual simulation versus other
traditional learning methods. His research reveals that utilizing virtual
simulation increases the skills and performance of students as well as has a
positive impact on students’ cognition. Erwin concludes that nurse educators,
school administration, policymakers, and other stakeholders should support
future initiatives in the development and advancement of this technology and
its inclusion in curriculum.
