Cognitive approaches to personality focus on differences in how people process information. There are four levels of cognition: perception, interpretation, conscious goals and intelligence. These four levels of cognition have significant contributions to the differences in personalities. The purposes of the assignment are to identify central concepts to the study of personality, explain how the four levels of cognition – perception, interpretation, goals and intelligence reveal aspects of personality and explain the effects of personality on various aspects of life.
