This networking assignment proposes the design and implementation of a secure and efficient campus-wide Local Area Network (LAN) to support communication, resource sharing, and internet access across multiple buildings. The network primarily utilizes star and tree topologies, with star topology providing easy management and fault isolation within individual buildings and tree topology offering scalability for connecting different campus facilities. The proposed infrastructure includes Cat6 Ethernet and fiber-optic cabling, switches, routers, servers, and Windows Server 2022 as the Network Operating System. The network is designed to facilitate centralized management, secure access control, file sharing, printer sharing, and reliable connectivity for students and staff. A detailed budget of approximately $6,440 USD covers the required hardware, software, cabling, and installation costs. Overall, the solution aims to deliver a cost-effective, scalable, and high-performance network that can support current campus operations while allowing for future expansion.

, Proposal
To enhance communication, resource sharing, and overall network efficiency, this plan suggests

establishing a Local Area Network (LAN) throughout the campus using star and tree topologies.

Through high-speed Ethernet and fiber-optic cabling, the proposed network will link computers,

printers, scanners, and servers, providing staff and students with dependable and secure access to

shared resources. The system will offer quick data transfer, centralized user administration,

improved security, and regulated internet access by utilizing switches, routers, and a centralized

server running Windows Server. While the tree topology will connect several buildings and

ensure scalability as the campus expands, the star topology will be utilized within individual

buildings for simple management and fault isolation. Despite the initial setup costs, the network

will save money over time by eliminating redundant equipment, enhancing teamwork,

facilitating online education, and making maintenance and future growth easier.
