STUDYING CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
CRITERIA CARDIAC MUSCLE
Location Forms the wall of the heart.
Structural
Features i)muscle fibres are involuntary, but striped.
ii)the cells are cylindrical and
branched.
iii) the branches are all joined
to form a functional network.
iv)there are special structures
called intercalated disc, at the
point where individual cells
are joined.
v)nucleus is located in the centre. Cells have numerous
mitochondria.
Movement Movement involuntary
Function Is responsible for the pumping action of the heart. Due to
presence of numerous mitochondria does not fatigue, works
throughout one’s life time.
CHAPTER: THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
● Cardiovascular system comprises of Heart, blood vessels (arteries, veins and capillaries) and
Fluid Connective tissue (blood, lymph and tissue fluid)
● The to and fro movement of the blood carried out by the pumping action of the heart through
blood vessels is called circulatory system or cardiovascular system.
