or returned to sender, not UBBM. First class
includes BRM, official mail, Franked mail, Green

6 What is Priority Mail? First class weighing over 13 ounces (or under, if
the mailer wants). Generally 2-3 days, but not
guaranteed. With a barcode, it is insured for up
to $50 (or $100 if shipped at commercial plus
prices) at no additional cost. No signature
unless extra services are added. Undeliverable
will be forwarded or returned to sender, as it
cannot be recycled. There is an international
version.

7 What are Periodicals? Usually magazines, newsletters, and
newspapers. Postage is located a few pages
inside. Will not have postage on the outside,
unless enclosed in an envelope or wrapper.
Must be delivered the same day as received in
the delivery office. Undeliverable is forwarded
for 60 days, or returned to sender. Periodicals
cannot be recycled.
8 What is Standard Mail? Usually advertising, and cannot contain
personal information. There are two types;
regular and nonprofit. All standard mail is
presorted and must be marked as such.
Considerably cheaper than all other mailing
options. Must send 200 or more pieces, or 50 or
more pounds of mail. Can be curtailed at
management's direction using 1571. Must
weight less than 16 ounces per piece. May
include saturation mailings utilizing simplified
addresses. Must be marked presorted standard,
standard, STD, Nonprofit Organization, or
Nonprofit. Can use precanceled stamps.
Undeliverable is UBBM, unless it has an ASE
marked on it, in which it will be forwarded or
returned to sender. The ASE must be placed in
one of four locations on the front.
9 What is Standard Post or Retail Never recycled. A cheap way of sending parcels

Mail: Consists of items sent to, from or between

Mail: Books, films, recordings, computer
readable media, manuscripts, etc. Subject to
search. Bound Printed Matter (BPM): No more
than 15 pounds and must be permanently
bound. Forwarded with endorsement, otherwise
UBBM. Undeliverable Library and Media Mail
will be forwarded or returned to sender.
