Bursitis - Pain and inflammation of the structure containing the fluid that lubricates a joint or
tendon sheath
degenerative joint disease - painful, noninflammatory changes in a joint that result from "wear
and tear" of chronic use and abuse
epicondylitis - pain and inflammation of the area where bone and tendon connect
overuse syndrome - Pain and inflammation resulting from intense or repetitive use of regional
anatomic structures in the course of occupational or recreational activities.
referred pain - pain originating in one structure that is perceived in the area of another
tendonitis - pain and inflammation of the tendon or tendon sheath
olecranon bursitis - inflammation of the bursa located over the olecranon process of the elbow
resulting in inflammatory fluid accumulation often following local trauma - may be spontaneous
or may result from infection
trigger finger - irritation from tendon sliding through the pulley causes tendon to swell and
create a nodule (diabetic patients)
osteoarthritis - Hand pain - aching or stiffness that involves enlargement of two or more joints
and deformity of at least one joint
