Introduction to Management of Care
Management of care focuses on safe, effective nursing care and coordination among healthcare
team members. Nurses act as caregivers, advocates, educators, leaders, communicators, and
managers.
Patient Advocacy
Patient advocacy means protecting patient rights, supporting informed decisions, ensuring privacy,
and respecting cultural values.
Informed Consent
Patients must understand the purpose, risks, benefits, alternatives, and consequences of refusing a
procedure before consent.
Confidentiality and Privacy
Patient information should only be shared with authorized individuals. Discussions in public places
are inappropriate.
Delegation
