Standards ABCP Soldiers screened every 6 months to ensure compliance
Commanders have the authority to direct a body fat assessment on any soldier
that they determine does not present a soldierly appearance

soldier action plan, meet a dietitian or health care provider within 30 days of
enrollment, participate in monthly ABCP assessments, must meet body fat
standard to be released.
Soldier Action Plan- within 14 days of counseling soldier will respond to
commander with a SAP providing dates of scheduled nutrition, how they intend to
work towards body fat standard.
Nutrition Counseling- has 30 days after enrollment to meet with dietitian. Soldier
provides commander signed counseling from dietitian.
Monitoring progress on ABCP Every 30 days commanders will conduct a monthly assessment to measure a
soldiers progress.
Satisfactory progress- loss of either 3-8 pounds or 1 percent of body fat a month.
Program Failure If soldier exhibits less than satisfactory progress on two consecutive monthly
assessments.
After 6 months in ABCP still exceeds body fat standards and exhibits less than
satisfactory progress for 3 or more non consecutive assessments
Body fat failure within 36 months If exceeds body fat within 12 months after release soldier will undergo medical
evaluation.
No medical issues commander will issue separation and bar
If after 12 months but less than 36 flag will be initiated and medical evaluation.
If no medial condition they will be re enrolled in ABCP and have 90 days to meet
standards if not they will be recommended separation.
