Part A Structure
Things to remember throughout the Part A:
- Place everything in sections for easy viewing, clear sections allow people to view it easily (Bullet
points and Lists are the easiest way)
- Clear handwriting- if original page is too messy, spend time to rewrite it tidily and organise the
information.
- Use highlighters to emphasise information and red pen for arrows/circles
- Each page can be brimmed with sections of information! More info, High marks!
- Consideration of stakeholder’s wants is key- fulfill it!!!! Consideration= Empathic design
- Do whatever the stakeholder wants you to- never turn on the requirements of stakeholder
***If there is an ideal design you want to do, then manipulate the direction and stick to it throughout
the whole assessment (consistency is key!)
****ANNOTATE USING 10 PRINCIPALS OF GOOD DESIGN AND 4 PLEAURE FRAMEWORK
Page 1- HCD Basis
• Write down the aim of the HCD problem- could be seen in the criteria sheet
• Always include 10 Principals of Good Design and 4 Pleasure Framework (Refer to them throughout
the assessment in annotations and analysis- always!)
• Research on stakeholder- age range, need, wants, issues they often face
***Reminder all research should be referenced!
Example:
• Research about- Existing Products, Services and Environment for Stakeholder
• Questions to ask stakeholder- (putting it in sections, if possible, e.g. Children-focused questions,
Parenting, Personal Questions)
***Interview Questions should generate enough response for a full page
Page 2- Stakeholder interview (First interview should be complete)
• Stakeholder profile- Place information that are relevant to topic (e.g. Profession, Nationality)
• Response to the interview- put in sections (highlight key issues for potential designs)
• Things that can be included (if applies)- Family Tree, Timeline, Photos of Stakeholder
• Summary of issues listed- Financial, Communication, etc.
, Page 3- Stakeholder Research
• Several photos of relevant stakeholder environments/ screenshots of relevant info. (etc. Financial
issues- invoices, Photos of workspace)
• Annotate- finding issues for potential designs, use red pen for arrows/ circles to emphasise
Pages 4- Initial Ideas and Second interview
• 6 initial ideas- 2 product, 2 services, 2 environments (annotate the benefits and describe use- link it
to the issue)
