CARDIOVASCULAR DISORDERSDiagnostic test for cardiac system ■ X-ray ■ Echocardiography ■ Electrocardiogram – Holter monitor – keep on for 24 hrs, allows to correlate activity w feeding times; can leave and still be monitored – Stress ECG- make the child walk, so we can see how they walk under stress. ■ Cardiac catheterization- use a balloon or stem to openNormal Blood FlowConductionCardiac CatheterizationCardiac Catheterization ■ Pre-procedure – History including allergies – Ht / Wt before and after – NPO X 8 hours – Mark pulse location – Prepare for administration of analgesics / sedatives / anxiolytics ■ Post-procedure – Monitor VS q 15 min x 4 in the beginning. ■ Bleeding ■ Neurovascular checks ■ Dysrhythmias – Fluids for contrast dye: Encourage voiding to remove dye – Monitor perfusion: temperature and color of affected extremity and compare – Dressing for bleeding – Leg extended straight for 4-6 hours – Strict I&O – Analgesics – Need to be on telemonitor – Give them lots of fluids to get the dye out their body. – Monitor perfusion w cap refill, color – If theres any blood on the dressing, assess caco, come back q 15 min to assess – Need to be layed straight for 4-6 hrs.Cardiac Indicators- - - - -
