Three signs and symptoms that occur during an anaphylactic reaction are constriction of
airway, shortness of breath, and coughing in the respiratory system. IN the cardiovascular
system, you could have heart palpitations, a weak pulse, and a sudden drop in blood pressure. IN
your gastrointestinal system you could have severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and/or diarrhea.
Lastly and most visual, you could have puritis, cyanosis and warming of the skin. The nurses
role in proving family centered care during and after a crisis is keeping the family up to date on
what is happening, giving them as much information as they are allowed to know, letting them
know why the team is doing certain treatments, and making sure that the family is provided
support during this time so getting a social worker involved to help ease nerves and answer other
questions may help. Lastly, the collaborate role of the nurse and priority nursing interventions
when caring for a patient undergoing hemodialysis is to prevent risk of injury, monitoring the
AV shunt, feeling the thrill and auscultating any bruits, monitoring their fluid and electrolyte
status, and checking vitals frequently.
