Without Google, the world would just not be as simple. Founded in 1998 by two
Sandford students, Sergey Brin and Larry Page (Google. (n.d.). This lovely little in your
pocket web browsers has probably answered questions for almost every person you walk by
daily Google is a for profit publicly traded company which has been around for approximately
20 years (Lewis, R. (2009). The core motive behind Google is to try and make your life easier.
The company started off simple they simply wanted to try and organize the world’s
information and make it universally accessible and useful (Google. (n.d.). Thankfully, they
did.
However, Google is much more today than just a simple search engine. They state in
their commitment that they… “Committed to significantly improving the lives of as many
people as possible” (Google. (n.d.). These are some of their key objectives, is helping the
everyday life of people, while also giving back. Google prides itself on not only advancement in
technology, but also helping people, the planet, as well as giving back to communities (Google.
(n.d.). In the year 2019 alone, Google helped provide $385 billions of economic activity for
more than 1.4 million American businesses, nonprofits, publishers, creators, and developer
(Google. (2020). Again, helping to give back in every way possible, sticking to their goals.
Without Google, the modern-day student may find themselves lost. However, more
than this, people would find themselves without a job. As of 2019 Google employs
