INTRODUCTION
Sullivan Tire and Auto Services were founded in 1955 by Bob Sullivan, AKA “The
Chef” (Sullivan Tire, About Us, n.d., para 1); which puts them in business for over sixty-five
(65) years. Sullivan Tire is a for-profit and private company owned by the Sullivan family.
Sullivan Tire’s current annual revenue is between $100-$500 million (Annual report, n.d.).
Sullivan Tire provides tire and auto services as well as automotive parts and accessories to the
community. It consists of “neighborhood auto service facilities, commercial truck centers,
retread manufacturing facilities, a tire wholesale division, and a small company that installs
vehicle lifts” (Sullivan Tire, About Us, n.d., para 2). Bob Sullivan’s main focus was to have a
company that treated his customers and his employees “like a member of the family” (Sullivan
Tire, About Us, n.d., para 1).
Sullivan Tire employs over 1,200 people (Sullivan Tire, Present, n.d., para 1).
Twenty-five percent (25%) of those 1,200 employees have been with the company for over ten
(10) years (Sullivan Tire, Present, n.d., para 1). There are over one hundred (100) locations
across New England which includes four divisions such as commercial, wholesale, lift works,
and retail (Sullivan Tire, Present, n.d., para 1). The corporate office is located in Norwell, MA.
Sullivan Tire also has a 200,000 square foot distribution center in Taunton, MA (Sullivan Tire,
, About Us, n.d., para 3). Among the many different aspects that Sullivan Tire offers, one aspect
that they pride themselves on is being able to offer complete auto repair services with “some of
the best Certified Master Technicians and L1 Technicians in the industry” (Sullivan Tire, About
Us, n.d., para 3).
Sullivan Tire also prides itself on the continuing value of treating customers and
employees all around like a member of their family. Their mission statement focuses on being
the “leader in the New England tire and automotive service industry by providing quality
products with the highest possible level of service and value to our customers” (n.d.). With a
strong dedication to providing and maintaining an ethical, caring, and enthusiastic work
environment for employees as well as a work environment that offers every opportunity to grow;
proves that employees are able to develop a career and not just have a job with this company
(Sullivan Tire, About Us, n.d., para 5).
Strategic goals and objectives include continuing to expand. The founder, Bob Sullivan,
who was a family and businessman appreciated the hard work of his employees (Sullivan Tire,
Career Development, n.d., para 6). Employees are a vital part of the success of Sullivan Tire.
Bob Sullivan ensured that Sullivan Tire continued his legacy and was fully “committed to
developing our employees to their fullest potential” (Sullivan Tire, Career Development, n.d.,
para 6). Training and Safety are two priorities that Sullivan Tire encourages all employees to
take part in. Employees have the opportunity to take advantage of online and classroom training
at Sullivan Tire University Program where numerous topics are covered (Sullivan Tire, Career
Development, n.d., para 7). Additionally, multiple leadership programs are offered where top
employees are selected to partake in to learn the necessary tools to take charge of their career
(Sullivan Tire, Career Development, n.d., para 7). Furthermore, workplace safety is crucial and
a top priority at Sullivan Tire. Employees in all divisions are required to complete safety training
during their first week of employment with Sullivan Tire (Sullivan Tire, Career Development,
n.d., para 8).
