NURS 6051: Transforming Nursing and Healthcare Through Technology
Planning and Requirements Definition
Planning is an important part of creating a new documentation system. When it comes to the
planning process it is important to involve the graduate nurse, they will play an essential role of
what the system requires to guarantee the overall success of the system. Involving the nurse in
planning is key to ensuring the system is practical (Jeffs et al, 2019). The nurse will be included
in the system design and contribute information that is important the nursing workflows ensuring
the system includes the required programs. This is vital to reduce the incidence of problems
occurring in the future that might contribute to expensive system modifications (McGonigle &
Mastrian, 2017).
Analysis
During the analysis phase, the requirements of the system that is implemented will be outlined
to ensure that it will align with the needs of the organization. The analysis phase reviews the
importance of workflows, the functional requirements, and proper nursing documentation needed
to ensure high quality care by providing proper documentation. The graduate nurse will be
involved in this stage to identify what is needed from the system and to assist in identifying
possible solutions to ensure the new system is effective (Laureate Education (Producer)., 2018).
