in Mitch, as she is desperate, for a lover, protector.

Stanley’s apartment) she clearly looks out of place. Her wearing white symbolises her

she keeps us the melodramatic performance, even though she has already been exposed.

tries to constantly escape reality through alcoholism and illusions, which she uses as a coping
mechanism. She is very comfortable in the fantastical world she has pictured herself in.
Blanche doesn’t ‘want realism’ as she is afraid of the threats and struggles life hurls at her.
Blanche portrays herself as a young and flirtatious southern belle, however that part of her
has clearly faded and she can’t keep using that act to ‘pull any wool over this boy’s eyes’ as
Stanley says.
