Johnsons’ Model for Intervention of Addiction
This model aims at reduction and total removal of a person’s drug addiction that was a
problem in the long run. The model is an elaborate one that highlights the variety of activities
that the affected person can do to quit on their drug addiction (Clark, 2012). The model
implements a confrontation of the victim's drug addiction problem by having various people
check on the social and health aspects of the individual. Therefore, in Marge's case, the following
should have occurred six weeks before she got admitted into the treatment.
The persons who will participate in the intervention and why
The first step is to find a team for Marge; in her case, it will include various people. The
first person who is to be in the group is her husband and her immediate family members
(Clark,2012).The reason behind this is that Marge mostly spends a considerable percentage of
her time with her family, and thus she will be in a better position to receive adequate help from
them. The second group will be her friends, who make up a significant percentage if her social
life. In this case, Marge would be able to help her stay away from drinking if they are aware of
her struggle to quit her addiction to alcohol.
The qualified professional.
The qualified personnel to guide the process would be her counselor, who is aware of all
the necessary steps needed to ensure that Merge can overcome her alcohol addiction problem.
