Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate whether there was a significant difference in
perceived attractiveness scores of a physical aroused sample to a control. Between groups
design of an opportunity sample (both genders) of 88 participants (aged 18-25), participated
in a control (no exercise) or experimental (exercise) condition. Exercise was 30 star jumps
and participants completed a devised attractiveness questionnaire. An independent t-test
indicated, no significant difference in attraction scores between the aroused and non-aroused
condition. Findings showed, physical arousal no longer affected perceived attraction,
implying arousal may now have a smaller effect on attraction than originally documented
thus suggesting attraction may be greatly infleunced by other factors.
