Reflect on the concept of function.
What concepts (only the names) did you need to accommodate the concept of
function in your mind?
Well, I think starting the course was quite confusing at first stage, especially when
I didn’t use Math since 2012 when I quit university. I was very good in Math when
I was in high school and also in University when I was in Bahrain, I got a B+
grade. Normally, when I saw the first requirements for the assignment, I felt
confused. Reading through the textbook and viewing tutors explaining the concepts
on khan academy have clarified all the misunderstood concepts on the subject
matter. I think I should invest more time in the Math, and develop a better
understanding in the couple of weeks, moreover the first week of the class was an
accomplishment as it was critical and fun at the same time by solving the
requirements on the assignments, and every time I review the examples the
concepts seem to make more sense.
The concepts that provide me with the concept of function is to determine if there
was a relationship of function, normally, this was achieved by identifying the input
and output values and concluding the relationship as a function. If there was only
one output value present the concept was a function, however, if there was more
than one output value there was no function within the relationship. According to
(Abramson, 2017). “concepts that simplified the concept of function is to identify
tables that represent functions, evaluating the input and output values of a
function, and expressing the equation of a circle as a function”
What is the simplest function you can imagine? In your day to day, is there
any occurring fact that can be interpreted as a function?
The simplest function that I can imagine is to identify the basic toolkit functions, in
essence, the toolkit function is a fundamental aspect to interpret a function as it
provides an insight on “the graph, formula, and special properties” (Abramson,
2017, p. 174).
Is it possible to view a function?
It is possible to view a function; accordingly, this can be achieved by applying the
vertical line test. The vertical line test will determine if a graph is a function,
ordinarily, if the vertical line is that intersects on the graph multiple times that it’s
