The goal of my project is to make a power bank that charges from the natural resources around us and storing it and using it whenever needed. This goal came to my mind when I was stuck in a cyclone(Gaja). At that time we did not have any electricity in our dorms. While staring at the window I got an idea of what if I could make a product that could charge from rain and solar. I will make my product in a way that charges from Sunlight and Vibrations when it rains. In order to link the components of it, I will be using the “C'' programming language. I have decided to make this product because our planet is getting destroyed because of Global warming.

SHMI Written Report

Criterion - A (Investigating):

The Goal of my Project:

The goal of my project is to make a power bank which charges from the natural resources

around us and storing it and using it whenever needed. This goal came to my mind when I was

stuck in a cyclone(Gaja). At that time we did not have any electricity in our dorms while staring

at the window I got an idea of what if I could make a product which could charge from rain and

solar. I will make my product in a way that charges from Sunlight and Vibrations when it rains.

In order to link the components of it, I will be using the “C'' programming language. I have

decided to make this product because our planet is getting destroyed because of Global warming.

The Global Context which I have chosen:

Scientific and Technical Innovation: The power bank which I have made can fix the

damage which humans have done. This product could be a modernizing invention for the

upcoming generation. A device like this could be a chance for us to fix the mistakes which we

have done to the environment. As this power bank can charge from solar and piezo, this reduces

the amount of fossil fuel that is being burnt. And we can make electricity with natural resources

we have which does not damage the planet. This product is engineered in a way to prevent the

cause of Global warming. Due to industrialization - people have moved from rural to urban and

from agriculture to a modern field that feeds them.

What makes my Personal Project Important to me:

The reason I took this Personal Project seriously because - my Dad was an Engineer and

he said the concepts are fun. By the time I concluded Engineering as my actual profession, I

wanted to take a look at what Engineering was and how was it going to help me. Luckily over

the vacation, I did a course on the basics and theories of Engineering. The course and the

Personal Project together helped me with my Career Guidance and helped me choose my Higher

Level subjects for my school (Maths, Physics & Computer Science). In order to show my

dedication to the engineering field, I have chosen this concept which interests me and fascinates

me the most and got it live.

Personal Interests: I have done programming courses in different languages like C, C++

and learned HTML and basics of javascript in school. Writing code was something that

interested me a lot. And I also liked making and building things from scratch, that way I started

to think creatively. While working on this project, I have to improve my coding language and my

creativity skills depending upon what I want to build.

What and why I wanted to achieve:

The reason for a product like this is because - the world is going through its extinction’s

age. By making this product, I achieve the goal of fossil fuels not being burnt and in order to

satisfy our needs, we can use nature help(resources) like sunlight or rain and convert it into

electrical energy. This idea struck me when I was stuck in cyclone Gaja, there was no power in

Kodaikanal for 3 days - by looking at the sky through the window, I had a thought in my head,

that what if I could convert Rain(Kinetic Energy) into electrical energy.
