Believed causes of the plague.
During the Middle Ages, the believed causes of the plague included; Bad air, bad blood,
sinners, Jews and God being unhappy with them.
Plague treatments
To cure the plague, they tried many methods, and none worked, these methods include;
applying leaches to extract bad blood, people known as flagellants and running away.
The three types of plague
Septicaemic: Infection of the blood.
Bubonic: Swelling of the buboes
Pneumonic: Infection of the lungs.
Effects of plague
When falling ill with the plague you will have headaches, nausea, fever and coughing.
Responses to the plague
People ran away to escape the plague and start fresh.
Others partied and gave up as they knew they were going to die.
Some became flagellants. (These were people who believed God was unhappy with them,
so they whipped themselves to be punished.
