Do Violent Video Games Contribute to Youth Violence?

Introduction

Online games have exhibited exponential growth in the past several years. They've

progressed from the humble origins in the computer lab to a contemporary status as among the

frontrunners in the multibillion-dollar worldwide entertainment industry. The most popular

games are characterized by the ability to enable players to role-play in numerous scenarios.

Owing to the marketplace appeal of violence, nearly all of the scenarios include some kind of act

of violence on-screen. Issues that are raised regarding the result that subsequent desensitization

and this overexposure to violence have on individuals. Arguments are forwarded that violence in

online games is directly accountable for the increase in young people's violence. On the flip side,
