Four W’s
The Four W’s of a GEMBA Walk include the following questions:
o Where did you go?
o Who did you observe?
o What was the goal of your GEMBA?
o What did you learn?
Throughout this paper, I will take you along with me to one of our Residential Level III Group
Homes where we provide 24-hour supervision and support as well as therapy to troubled teenage
females in an ‘at-home’ type setting. Many of these adolescent females have endured emotional,
physical and/or sexual abuse at the hands of a friend, family member or friend of the family. Our
Staff is trained on how to support our consumers and help them to achieve long-term success in
pursuing their dreams and whatever goals they set for themselves.
