Human Resources and Staffing Crisis at Blumberg’s Nursing Home
HSA545-Long-Term Care Management
Strayer University
Blumberg’s institution is a 100-bed sanatorium in residential district of Pennsylvania.
The facility could be named as a healthcare and Medicare certified organization. The
administration decided that three pertinent positions must be released and replaced due to illegal
and inappropriate activities. The positions that were released were the Director of Nursing
(DON), secretary, and a dietary aid. All three of them was consuming unlawful substances on the
facility’s property.
The first order that needs to be taken care of Blumberg’s administrator would to be
contract an interim DON, since the charge nurse does not have the degree required for the
position. Secondly, a dietary aid needs to be hired because of the need of the facility for the
patients that have dietary restrictions and alterations that must be done; this makes this
replacement is definitely on position that is essential that has to be filled as soon as possible. The
secretary would be last on the list. Reasoning is that the workers should be capable to help cover
a variety of the administrative duties. A very substantial appeal of business is for BNH’s
management to utilize another DON since the interim that was chosen is not a registered nurse,
as required. The next question is it a dire need for the dietary aid? There are some patients that
have dietary restrictions, and it must be addressed quickly. That is the one aspect that must be
regulated at the earliest opportunity.
Lastly, I would contract an administrative assistant. With the other workers having the
ability to cover some of the obligations until they are replaced. In addressing the issues of the
inappropriate activities of the released employees, I conceive that it was wrong to have other
employees meet to vocalize regarding and/or revamp the code of ethics to any staff members. All
