Toddler Activity
Introduction
The activity I chose is a creative expression art project called “vegetable stamps.” The link to this
activity is: https://pin.it/7kxffC8
Summary of the Activity
To begin, allow the children the chance to explore the halves of fruits and vegetables
before stamping. Engage in conversation about the color of the fruits and vegetables, the textures
that the stamps are leaving on the paper, and the children’s individual art pieces. For this art
activity to be age appropriate, the children should be free to explore independently and complete
an open-ended art project with no expectation of the finished product. This activity aligns with
the DAP strategies because the CDC states that toddlers at the age of 18 months should be able
to, “say several single words”, “like to hand things to others as play”, “point to show others
something interesting” (2021). All of these milestones are easily achievable throughout this
activity for the toddlers.
This activity aligns with the PILES domains because it touches upon several of the
domains. This activity works the Physical Domain because the toddlers are grasping the fruits
and vegetables and working their fine motor and hand eye coordination by grasping the object,
dipping it in paint, and stamping it on the paper. This activity aligns with the Intellectual Domain
because the children are exploring the shapes and colors of the stamps on their paper. This
activity aligns with the Language Domain because the children are using single word phrases to
describe their art and its process. And lastly this activity aligns with the Social Domain because
