Why Do Some Resist The Truth
- Some people resist the truth because they come to realize who they are and what they must do
- We need to stop from running and start facing who we are.

8th Commandment
- The eighth commandment, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour” (Exodus 20:16;
Deuteronomy 5:20), upholds the truth not only by prohibiting lying in court but also by positively
commanding us to respect the good name of others
- The truth and speaking the truth is not a private matter but are always in the context of our
relationshipyie with others and God.
- Note that Jesus affirmed the importance of the 8th commandment through His words & deeds.
1. He is the truth, the ultimate reality. He is who He really is and truly true. (He was not a hypocrite
and never “put on a false face” for He was true to himself and was open to others)
2. He is not just the Lord of Commandments but also as the Man of Commandments (Jesus embodied
and exemplified His promises)
- Christ reminds us of the liberating power of truth through His own life and ministry, we understand now
respecting the truth frees us from sin and self-centeredness
